22nd Feb, 10.30pm Korean Air flight to Incheon Airport
Falling on a friday night, I assume many people would have their friday night plans going on. I didn't want to disrupt anyone's plans, so I didn't tell anyone my flight details unless they asked.
And slowly as the day drew nearer, more and more of my friends contacted me to ask for my flight details. I was touched to know that they remembered me despite busy school schedules.
Sammi came to meet up with me at tampines (fish & co) a few days before because she couldn't make it on friday night itself. We talked over delicious fish and chips. It didn't seem like it had already been 3 years + since we graduated from tjc. We just picked up our conversations naturally and time passed so fast.
I met Joyce (my -boss- at Microsoft) just a day before flying off. It was sad to say good bye so soon because I was really enjoying working at Microsoft DPE. I was just starting to get to know the fun folks there and I wish I could contribute a lot more if I could spend more time with them. Really grateful for the eye opening opportunities over the past 6 weeks still.
Now my dearest boyfriend, YJ, knew that he had live firing on saturday and so he had to stay in camp on friday night for a briefing. He said he couldn't send me off.
We were incredibly emotional about being apart for 4 whole months. Being in army makes it difficult to spend enough time together. We don't know exactly when and what time we can talk to each other. So we treasured every weekend and went shopping and walking around as much as we could.
Weekends passed. On the last weekend, I bought my koi bubble tea with YJ. He said, "this is the last time we'll drink bubble tea together like this". I couldn't blink away my tears. they came out too furiously.
On friday itself, i kept whatsapping YJ to make sure he wasn't too emo. in the afternoon, i took out a piece of paper and started writing a letter to him. halfway through, my phone rang and it was him! oo and he told me that he left behind a present for me at my gate. i asked him how was it possible and wouldn't it rain on the present? then he said "just go out and see"
And I walked out, grumbling to him that the weather was so hot. I still remember myself looking at the floor, when I heard footsteps and I looked up. He stared right back at me holding his handphone to his ear. Silly him, made me cry the millionth time again. so he managed to surprise me completely and send me off at the airport. God really answered a prayer here. YJ asked me to change my flight but I couldn't. We prayed for a miracle and it happened. We asked and God gave.
Before going to the airport, Pearlyn came to give me present and card from taiwan roomies! glow in the dark stars to keep me company at night (:
At the airport with my dad, I was excited - nervous - dazzled. Jason and Jolene (NUS/Wakeboarding) came first, talked awkwardly but happily. They gave me vit c which helped me tremendously to stay fit and healthy.
Next lijia and the cell came as a surprise! They shifted cell to sending me off!
After that, qiqi jeff and the younger cell girls came (: so sweet of them to come after a long day of work/school! they gave me cute presents too :3 hehe! i can't bring them to korea because my bag is bursting! but don't worry, i'll come back and use them!
they all came together to say a prayer for me.
Then finally came yi xian and syjia who barely caught me. sonia and edna couldn't make it though! will miss these two girls so very much. yixian for being spastic and crazy, syjia for her cat (meow) and just talking about anything everything.
YJ, quietly stood nearby with my family watched me from afar. He gave me space and time to spend with all my dear friends who came to send me off.
I handed my passport to the guard, hefted my crazy heavy bag up onto my bag, gave many hugs and off i went.
